The LGBTRC VolunQueers Program is on open opportunity throughout the academic year for students to gain valuable leadership skills and cultural competency while contributing to the mission and vision of the LGBTRC. VolunQueers are active members of the LGBTRC and collaborate with the professional and student staff so that the LGBTRC can serve its constituents through advice, advocacy, program development, and outreach. VolunQueer hours can consist of one weekly meeting throughout each academic quarter, weekly tabling opportunities, event opportunities and participation, and the LGBTRC’s annual dance committee. This is a non-paid position.
VolunQueers responsibilities include:
- Participation in professional development training to learn outreach and support skills needed as a VolunQueer;
- Commitment to participating and engaging in the LGBTRC’s programmatic, educational, and resource efforts;
- Assist in weekly tabling opportunities and other outreach events on behalf of the LGBTRC;
- Form and coordinate in collaboration with the LGBTRC’s staff a dance committee to hold the LGBTRC’s annual LGBTQ+ dance/event;
- Be helpful to students asking questions about the LGBTRC and/or who may be new to the space;
- Offer tours to new folks looking to learn more about the LGBTRC;
- Uphold the LGBTRC’s Community Agreements and encourage others;
