Campus-Wide Questions
How is the environment for out and visible queer people on campus?
Many LGBTQ+ folks are out and visible, but there are many students who will never come out for a variety of safety or personal concerns. This is a complicated issue and everyone’s mileage will vary. Some do not experience any trouble at all for expressing themselves while others experience harassment.
It is up to ALL of us to change the climate to be more welcoming for all of us. YOU can help make a difference by speaking out against anti-LGBTQ sentiment and reporting incidents here.
Are there LGBTQ+ student organizations on campus?
Yes! There are many queer and trans-focused student orgs on the UC Irvine Campus, some of which partner with us. Please visit our LGBTQ+ Student Orgs page to learn more!
