Community Programming Intern (2 positions)

The Community Programs Interns are responsible for supporting and implementing LGBTRC Quarterly & weekly events and programs under supervision of professional staff. The Community Programs Interns will work with other LGBTRC interns and UCI departments to bring a variety of programs to the LGBTRC.

  • Work 8-10 hours per week for the academic year, assisting in specialized and outreach/liaison tasks for the Resource Center when necessary
  • Work with the Professional Staff and other Programs Intern to plan and organize the LGBTRC’s quarterly and yearly programming calendar
  • Create, research and manage a monthly event related to the awareness week of that month, under the guidance of professional staff
  • Organize and plan a weekly program in which community members can engage in current event discussions (ex. Queer Talks, QPOC Nights and Late Nights)
  • Create resources, programs, and events concerning social justice issues including historically underrepresented groups, queer people of color, the intersections of multiple identities, and other marginalized communities within the larger LGBTQ community
  • Serve on committees and collaborate with campus departments including, but not limited to CARE and On-Campus Student Housing and various student groups on social justice and campus wide programs like Deconstruction Zone and Take Back the Night
  • Serve as a liaison between the LGBTRC and community and campus partners including UCI student organizations and campus departments
  • Other duties as assigned

Graphics & Technology Coordinator (1 position)

The Graphics and Technology Intern is responsible for the overall design of LGBTRC program materials. 

  • Work 8-10 hours per week for the academic year, assisting in specialized and outreach/liaison tasks for the Resource Center when necessary
  • Manage, design, and update content on the LGBRC website as necessary under the direction of the Professional Staff
  • Design graphic publicity for ongoing programs, workshops, services, and events (flyers, posters, LGBTRC resource wall pamphlets, postcards, etc.) 
  • Coordinate with Outreach Intern regarding the creation of advertising and outreach materials for all LGBTRC services and events in collaboration with other staff members as necessary
  • Utilize Photoshop and other computer/tech programs to create exceptional handouts/flyers/posters
  • Manage online community tools and social networks that promote the LGBTRC and its services and programs including facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. 
  • Collaborate with all interns to be sure that their work is represented in an on-line presence
  • Other duties as assigned

Outreach Intern (1 position)

The Outreach Intern is responsible for LGBTRC Visibility events and coordinates the Volunqueer Team with Professional Staff.

  • Work 8-10 hours per week for the academic year, assisting in specialized and outreach/liaison tasks for the Resource Center when necessary
  • Develop and coordinate tabling, booths, passive/interactive displays at campus events, LGBTRC major program weeks, and weekly visibility outreach
  • Coordinate with the Graphics & Tech Intern regarding the distribution and removal of advertising and outreach materials for all LGBTRC services and events in collaboration with other staff members as necessary
  • Train and coordinate schedules of other interns and Volunqueers on how to properly provide outreach tabling on behalf of the LGBTRC
  • Work in conjunction with the Volunqueer group to market LGBTRC events and resources across campus
  • Collaborate with other interns to outreach to potential volunteers and campus departments or student groups who may be interested in volunteering or collaborating with the LGBTRC
  • Assist professional and student staff with visibility projects including outreach tabling and passive programming
  • Track all data related to outreach efforts, contact, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Cultural Programs Intern (1 Position)

The Cultural Programs Intern is responsible for co-facilitating QTPOC (Queer Trans People of Color Nights) and other social justice related programs that support the LGBTRC's mission to provide intersectional awareness and allyship to the UCI community.

  • Work 8-10 hours per week for the academic year, assisting in specialized and outreach/liason tasks for the Resource Center when necessary
  • Under the supervision of Professional staff, plan, research, and co-facilitate weekly QTPOC Nights programming at the LGBTRC
  • Work in conjunction with Professional staff to advise and coordinate with the LGBTRC QTPOC organizations such as: Queer & Asian, La Familia, and Black Queer Collective
  • Serve on the planning and facilitation team for the Queer and Race Series program; a collaboration with the LGBTRC and Cross Cultural Center
  • Work as a liason to the Cross Cultural Center and to the Cross Cultural Center's Umbrella Organizations
  • Create resources, programs, and events concerning social justice issues including historically underrepresented groups, queer people of color, the intersections of multiple identities, and other marginalized communities within the larger LGBTQ+ community
  • Under the supervision of professional staff, plan, and implement yearly QTPOC awareness week
  • Other duties as assigned
